Thrombocytopenia and Zika virus infection

The international scientific journal Lancet has recently published the case of a 54-year-old woman who suffered from a flu-like syndrome and hemorrhagic skin diathesis after a travel in Central America. Laboratory tests showed a severe thrombocytopenia (10000/mmc) associated with zika virus infection. This is the first case reported in literature of a such association.
